Danhui Nai was born in mainland China and raised in an artistic household with her sculptor father and painter mother. Her natural passion for art was guided through classical training which she applies in her California studio to create beautiful, on-trend artwork in a variety of media. She studied interior design later in Paris and New York City. She worked in the textile industry in Manhattan, where she continued her studies and artistic development.
Q: When did you know you wanted to be an artist?
Wanting to be an artist came early and naturally to me since both of my parents are artists and I didn’t know there were other professions till much later.
Q: Where do you draw your inspiration from?
I love hiking and observing my surroundings when I am in nature. Blue sky, pristine lake, rain falling over the lake, colorful leaves, inspire me and give me the urge to paint.
Q: What’s your favorite thing about your studio?
When I paint in my studio, I am lost in a world with endless possibility and joy.
Q: How has your style or approach to art changed over the years, if it has changed?
I am more open to experiment with different techniques, subjects and color palettes.
