Artist and Illustrator Farida Zaman is a creator as bright and filled with creative energy as her art.

We’ve been working with Farida for quite a few years now and are always struck by her gorgeous use of color and ability to mix texture and tone into a gorgeous collection of art. From pretty botanicals and bright florals to global patterns, coastal, tropical and holiday themes, Farida is always creating new collections for the wall and art licensing.

“I have been drawing since I was old enough to pick up a pencil and the first thing I can remember drawing was flowers. Travelling with my family from a very young age and living all over the world, along with my South Asian roots, has definitely influenced my style and has given me the knowledge of diversity.”

Her passion for art and design led her to an international career as a freelance illustrator and fine artist in Geneva, London, New York and Toronto. Her art is unmistakably lively, colorful and whimsical and has added colorful charm to posters, book covers, children’s book illustrations, clothing, packaging and giftware. Looking at Farida’s work you will see a multi-cultural flair to many of her pieces. Travelling has been a big influence especially from past trips to Morocco, Thailand, Turkey, Iran, Italy, Spain and France. We love how she bring her unique style and vision to these collections, making them truly her own.

Farida uses watercolors, gouache and digital mediums to execute her unique style. You will find her at work in her stunning Toronto home studio that overlooks her lovingly-planted garden, and is filled with paint palettes, easels, inspiring books and big green plants where she is often kept company by her kept company by my small Coton de Tulear dog Pippa!
