Wild Apple Licensing
Licensing Art for Business SM Wild Apple connects talented artists with creative companies who produce beautiful products. We offer manufacturers fresh, trend current images to enhance their products. We offer artists access to leading manufacturers, and we take care of marketing and all the business "stuff" so the artist can spend time being creative. Wild Apple focuses primarily on the home furnishings and decorative accessories industries.
What Is Art Licensing, Anyway? Art licensing means allowing someone to use artwork on a product in exchange for compensation. Artwork is used on wallpaper, china, placemats, tapestries, calendars, and any other product you can imagine (and even some you can’t) to make the product more attractive and marketable. Compensation to the artist is usually on a royalty basis, meaning the artist receives a percentage of the manufacturer's sales from products containing her/his artwork. See Licensing Basics for more.
If you are a manufacturer looking to make your product even more attractive... We would be happy to discuss your needs and review together our private access catalogue of images. We like nothing better than making the perfect match of product and artwork. Presently, our licensees span a wide variety of product categories including tabletop, fabric, wall paper, floor coverings, kitchen textiles, stationery, and decorative accessories, among others. Feel free to contact us.
If you are an artist who wants to focus on creativity and leave the business side to an experienced partner... Why not consider licensing your art? Wild Apple represents a diverse group of contemporary artists. Acting as an artist's agent, we present your artwork to manufacturers for consideration. To find out more, please see Submit Art.
A Message to Licensees from Jeff Grinspan, Director of Licensing: Optimism in the face of Adversity…April 2009 Dear Licensees: As I continue to have conversations with a number of you, all trying to determine how to remain optimistic in the face of economic uncertainty, I’ve come to several encouraging conclusions. 1. Optimism #1: There is a sense of acceptance that this year is going to be what it is going to be. What’s exciting is seeing the level of innovation being devoted to new product development for 2010 and beyond. Even though market conditions may tell a different story, we all realize that new product is the key to growth. 2. Optimism #2: Companies that weather the economic storm, whether on their own or by consolidating with others, will emerge stronger than ever and in a great competitive position. And, as retailers consolidate, they will seek to engage leaders in their product categories to stock their shelves with appealing merchandise that’s trend right and of real value. 3. Optimism #3: There is more opportunity to collaborate on design, as manufacturers downsize in-house staff and reduce up-front costs of purchasing art. Wild Apple can help keep your costs down by designing art to your specified templates to give you a jump-start on visualization and preparation for previewing ideas to your retail accounts. With most company earnings for 2008 just plain lousy, the first quarter of 2009 having performed below expectations, and the economic stimulus package signed and behind us, we’re entering the next chapter of this incredible journey. Wild Apple is positioned to assist you in the creation of fresh, vital and exciting new product. We intend on being as creative as ever. We’ll keep art coming. And, we’re at your service to help design art to the specific shape or form of your products. We’re moving forward into the rest of 2009 with great confidence and the realization that we all share the same goals… great art for great product designed to sell! Best regards...Jeff January 2009 How Licensing Art Can Help Your Business in a Terrible Economy We all understand the critical role consumers play in driving our economy. When they aren’t spending, retailers panic and manufacturers struggle to cut costs and tighten margins to give retailers essential ammunition to battle reluctant customers. Fortunately, customers don’t evaporate into thin air. They still walk into stores, they still purchase the things they need and many still find ways to make that impulse buy for that proverbial feel-good acquisition in a tough and uncertain world. Retailers who can weather the current economic storm by cutting costs still need to stock fresh, exciting, vibrant, trend-right products that motivate their customers to buy. Products that say, “ Wow!” and “Wouldn’t I look great in your home?” and “Great gift -- great price.” This kind of product not only sells, it signals continued stability and reliability to individuals besieged daily with news reports of consolidations, going out of business sales and inventory reductions. That’s why as manufacturers, you need to do what seems counter-intuitive. You have to invest in product. And how can you do that with minimal upfront cost? By licensing art. Here’s how Wild Apple art can help:
I invite you to tour our user-friendly website ( www.wildapple.com ) to discover thousands of images easily designed for your product. We add new work monthly (at least!) in an ever expanding attempt to help you find just the right art. Category specific samples of art designed for stationery, tabletop and kitchen textiles, to name a few, can be viewed by clicking on ‘Product Presentations’. And, having us develop custom applications to illustrate just how great our art could look on your product line is just an email or phone call away. Here’s to a prosperous New Year for us all. Best regards, Jeff Grinspan
