We love bright, beautiful brilliant color.

While neutral decor is all the rage, color has a  very important role in the home. Color can change how we feel. It also communicates to everyone else something about who we are. The great thing about a neutral room is that it is the perfect backdrop to make bold color statements with art and accessories.

The reality is that it’s easy to be scared of bright colors in the home. Frankly, the idea of painting a wall bright orange or red, leaves us with chills. Have no fear, there is an easier way … home decor to the rescue! Bright and cheery accessories help add pops of color to the home without committing to a complete re-design. At the end of the day it’s about how you feel or even better, how you want to feel.

Here is how color can make us feel in the home.

Yellow

  • Yellow may be the happiest color ever. It makes us think of sunshine and summer. Used in small spaces it can help make a space seem larger. But in large quantities, yellow can make people feel agitated so use it sparingly.

Blue

  • Tried and true, blues are considered relaxing and calm in the home. Bright tones like turquoise and and cobalt make us feel welcomed. Light tones can feel cold so use in small amounts.

Purple

  • Purple, the most royal hue, can feel dramatic and sophisticated. Rich shades ad depth while brighter shades like violet and lavender, while they can pack a color pop, are restful and calming

Green

  • Fresh and inviting, greens remind us of nature and are amazing in just about any room in the home. Bright greens add positive energy to the home.
